| After the Branson reunion in October of 2009, I will
be stepping down from webmaster duties for both the Purple Foxes and the
Warriors of Hill 881S sites. Between now and then I would hope to
find a Purple Fox who would volunteer to become the caretaker of your site.
The majority of your history has been recorded and all that would be required
is updating email links to your roster as required, adding those who are
deemed to be eligible, and other housekeeping chores.
I will be approaching 75 years of age and believe the webmaster position for both the Purple Foxes and the Warriors of Hill 881S should pass to younger individuals for reasons of managed continuity as opposed to waiting for me to become incapable of supporting you without proper transition. I will renew and extend the domain name of hmm-364.org for an additional nine years before October of 2009. There will be some costs associated with the transition and future maintenance of the site. Transition costs will be some software to enable writing of .html language (language of the internet), software to transfer information to and from the internet provider, a scanner, digital image software and some sort of word processing software ( we should be using the same software during the transition which I will provide). The maintenance costs involve ink, paper, annual renewal of some software licenses, and hosting fees from the provider that gives access to the internet will be costs the Purple Foxes have not been asked to cover in the past. Some of these costs going forward could be reduced by allowing pop up advertisements (you are not subject to those aggravating pop ups now.) I believe some of the Purple Foxes would contribute individual small amounts each year to provide for these costs if the new webmaster provided them an accurate accounting and felt he could not bear the costs alone. It has been a distinct honor to serve you since I was volunteered to be your historian and webmaster during a POPASMOKE reunion in 1998 at Pensacola, Fl. I have been blessed to served with many of you and meeting meeting many others since becoming your historian. The secret of becoming the "World Famous Purple Foxes" rests with those of you who have provided photographs and personal accounts of the squadron from 1962 until February 1971 when the squadron colors were folded for a few years. I believe your gallant and colorful history should remain on the internet for the benefit of your progeny and future generations. If you have a desire to examine this opportunity further please let me hear from you. Semper Fi Foxes, Uncle Frank
