Please help direct me to any info you may have on USMC Aerial Gunner Norman Flowers out of Santa Ana, Ca.

He is my father in law. He is alive and doing okay regarding health but he lost his ability to communicate in any way after a stroke he suffered in 2008.

I have his records and his patches showing that he served with HMM-364,163,164 and HMHT-301.
I am seeking any further accounts I can get my hands on.

SLJNCO: Photos and his flight logs are added to his index page.
If you have any information, please email SLJNCO, and I will put you in touch with Amber or his son Aaron.

(If you have info to send to Mr Nguyen, please email SLJNCO and I will put you in touch with him.)
To whom it may concern,

You will no doubt wonder who this is, so please allow me to briefly introduce myself. My name is Khang Nguyen and I am a Marine Corps veteran. I served from 2019 to 2023 with the 2nd Marine Division. In my free time, I am an avid collector and would consider myself to be an amateur historian and researcher. I created a page on Instagram called “helmets_and_militaria” which features artifacts, historical documents and most importantly, first-hand accounts and research of veterans. I personally believe that preserving their stories and legacy is just as important, if not more so, than the items themselves, although those do play an important role as visual aids in the storytelling process.

The reason why I am reaching out to you today was because I was hoping that you might be able to assist me with information regarding a former Marine who served with HMM-364 in Vietnam. The Marine’s name was

William Howard Roberts (MSN: 2168830)

and according to his partial records which I received from NARA, he transferred over to HMM-364 on 6 Feburary 1968 from MABS-36 and served as an 8071 Aerial Gunner with the Purple Foxes for about four months before rotating back to Camp Pendleton. I have attached images of his dog tag and a portion of his service record for reference. His memorial page can also be found here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/72644013/william_howard-roberts .

I am hoping to learn more about his time with the squadron with the ultimate goal of better documenting and preserving the story of this Marine and his service.

Thank you very much for your time and for maintaining the HMM-364 website and preserving the history of the squadron. Any assistance or direction you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,
Khang Nguyen

Hello,
My grandpa, Sgt. Philip V. Gooch lost everything in a house fire on June 10 th 2025.

He recently received his replacement medals, but one thing that he will miss is his original Purple Fox patch and anything else he may have had that I did not know about. I am reaching out to see if there is anyway he could receive a replacement patch or anything else. He is very proud of being a Purple Fox and his family is grateful to the Marines and the rest of the Military for all of their aid in this trying time.

Thank you for your time!
Lucy Gossett

If you can help Philip with some Purple Fox gear, it would be much appreciated.
Email the website, and I will put you in touch with Lucy.
