THE RESPONSIVE READING                                                                           Psalm 139
C:  O Lord, You have searched me and know me!
P:  WHERE SHALL I GO FROM YOUR SPIRIT?
OR WHERE SHALL I GO FROM YOUR PRESENCE?
C:  If I ascend to heaven, You are there!
If I Make my bed in the grave, You are there!
P:  IF I TAKE THE WINGS OF THE MORNING
AND DWELL IN THE UTTERMOST PARTS OF THE SEA,
C:  Even there Your hand shall lead me,
and Your right hand shall hold me.
P:  "IF I SAY, "LET ONLY DARKNESS COVER ME,
AND THE LIGHT ABOUT ME BE NIGHT,"
C:  Even the darkness is not dark to You,
         the night is bright as the day;
for darkness is as light with thee.
P:  PRECIOUS IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD
IS THE DEATH OF HIS SAINTS.
C:  Search me, O God, and know my heart!
P:  TRY ME AND KNOW MY THOUGHTS,
AND LEAD ME IN THE WAY EVERLASTING.  AMEN.

*THE MARINE HYMN

Eternal Father grant we pray
To all Marines both night and day
The courage, honor, strength and skill
Their land to serve thy law to fulfill
Be thou the shield forevermore
From every peril to the Corps.

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky
Be with them always in the air
In darkening storms or sunlight fair
O hear us when we lift our prayer
For those in peril in the air.
