Gysgt. Gordon J. Barnes USMC Retired
(August 28, 1933 - May 23, 2008) 

Wake services for Gysgt. Gordon J. Barnes USMC Retired will be Tuesday Evening at 7:00 P.M. in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Deacon John Warren officiating. Full graveside military honors will be held at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.

Gordon was born August 28, 1933 at Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Carl Oscar & Kindness Ellen McClelland Barnes. He passed from this life on May 23, 2008 at his residence in Ardmore at the age of seventy four. After the death of his parents he was raised by his grandparents Ray & Mabel Hayden in Balko, Ok. Beaver County. He married Judith Molloy in North Carolina on June 17, 1972.

They have lived in this area the past four years, previously living in Pauls Valley. Gordon was a True Marine. He volunteerly served in Korea and four tours of duty in Vietnam and was retired. He will be inducted into the Military Memorial Museum Hall of Honors on June 23, 2008. He loved his family, his buddies of the Original HMM 364 Squadron, team roping, farming and fishing. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kindness and Carl Barnes, grandparents; Ray and Mabel Hayden, and two brothers; Richard and Chet Barnes.

He is survived by his wife Judy of the home, Son; Tom & Sue (Harrison) Barnes of Pauls Valley, Ok, Daughters; Sandie & Larry Don Hull of Ardmore, Sheila & Marvin Carpenter of Ardmore, Debie Birks of Pauls Valley, Grandsons; Gordon “Lane” Hull of Ardmore, Aaron Barnes Gray of Pauls Valley, Granddaughter; Angie Barnes Gray of Pauls Valley.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Marine Corps. Heritage Foundation P.O. Box 998 Quantico, Virginia 22134-0998.
