Low clouds as this gave some protection for the Khe
Sanh Combat base but we were visible to our enemy on 881N. The Supergaggle
birds from Phu Bai, with the assistance of radar controlled departures
and approaches, could resupply us under these conditions.

been the Combat Operations Center "COC" bunker in India's location on the
hill.

Leslie M. Palm who served on 881 for a few weeks, then served our Corps
for 33 years. Was in charge of the Marine artillery (11th Marines)
for Operation Desert Storm. He retired 7 years ago as a Major General
and has been President of the Marine Corps Association for the past 6 1/2
years.
